Nordhus is located about three miles North of Lutsen Mountains, 16 miles South of Grand Marais, and just steps from the Norpine Trail System—the ideal base for exploring the North Shore in any season. Ski, snowshoe, and hike right from the front door, or explore Lake Superior’s rugged shoreline just across the road.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the entire property, with the exception of one storage closet and the mechanical room. Prior to check-in, you’ll receive a code for the digital locks on the main entrance, lower level, and garage. The garage is also available for your use — perfect for storing bikes, skis, snowboards, and other gear, with racks provided for your convenience.

Nordhus is a spacious 4,400 sq ft retreat nestled on eight acres of cedar, birch, spruce, and pine. A private gas fire pit and spacious main deck invite gathering and relaxation, while a floating balcony offers stunning lake views for watching the sun rise or stargazing. Inside, an open-concept layout and floor-to-ceiling windows create a seamless connection to the forest beyond. A locally sourced agate fireplace celebrates the natural surroundings and offers a cozy space to unwind, and the game room promises hours of entertainment with darts, shuffleboard, and arcades.

We went skiing at Lutsen, and this was the perfect home to stay at. It was beautiful, spacious, clean and only 5 minutes away from the ski resort. Leslie was a great host and was super responsive. Our family had a great time!

This house was incredible!!! I have stayed at several Airbnb's and most homes usually lack decent kitchen pans, dishes, utensils. This kitchen was fully stocked with nice cookware, dishes, and even kids plates/cups/bowls! The kitchen even had seasonings, and oils you may need! She also provides coffee (in k-cups or regular pot) Leslie also had house stocked with cleaning supplies, bathroom supplies like make up remover wipes, shampoo and conditioner and even noise machines and phone chargers! We were all so impressed. They had many games and kids activities. The beds were super comfortable and house was cozy! I would recommend this house 1000/10!

We, and our guests, had a relaxing, peaceful and fun time at this really special property. All the thoughtful details in the design from the antler chandelier to the agate fireplace front/hearth, the big bathtub with a huge picture window into the forest, sound machines for sleeping, super comfortable mattresses to the well appointed kitchen…it was everything we needed and wanted. This kids (and big kids!) loved exploring the forest outside and playing games in the basement. There was just the right amount of space for 12 people to have privacy when needed but it also felt so cozy. Several of our guests mentioned they slept so deeply and the cleanliness was impeccable (and I’m particular)! We will definitely be back and will recommend this to friends/family. Thanks for an increase stay!

The house is beautiful and has so many thoughtful touches from blankets to use outside by the fire to complimentary coffee, tea and spices to shampoo and body wash provided. Nice selection of games, puzzles and books too. Multiple places to go in the house to lounge and relax and the beds are super comfortable. Love the view of Lake Superior from the second floor and if you want to get right to the shore it's an easy walk or drive down the road and to the public park directly across Hwy 61 from Isak Hansen Hardware. You really don't need to bring anything except your clothes and some food. The host was very responsive and easy to communicate with too. I would definitely book again if we find ourselves vacationing in the same area in the future.

We had a great stay at Nordhaus. Beautiful home, fully stocked, and a great location. We had two families with 5 adults, 6 children and we had plenty of space. Everyone loved this place. The huge ceilings, watching the sunrise over Lake Superior from the top deck, cozy living room with fireplace, huge windows, a game room downstairs, star gazing and smores sitting around the gas fireplace. Very thoughtful small touches were put in place around the home that made it seem more luxurious than a typical Airbnb (branded coffee mugs, pens, blankets, koozies, etc). Kitchen was stocked with everything we needed. We did a ton of hiking around the area and had a great trip. Although there were some logistical issues that we faced, Leslie was very responsive and corrected the issue right away. Thanks for a memorable stay.
